Rick Lucas: Ping
The forward strap is easy to
position as it will slide forward of the keel and settle onto the hull pretty
much of it's own accord. The main thing to keep in mind is that you do not want
to use your prop shaft to support over six tons of boat. To that end, make sure
that the rear sling strap is run close to the end of the coachroof. It will
naturally find its way to the correct position without any peril to the prop
shaft.
The 1978 323 manual did not
provide any information on the sling placement for those of us wanting to haul
our boats out with a travel lift or other such contraption. Subsequently, I
unearthed some drawings that Pearson created in 1980 that provides that
information. You can find that and other drawings in the
323 Manual Supplement.
