"AMORIN"

I just bought Amorin in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.
I'm in the middle of getting her ready for a trip home to Madisonville. Then it's a haul out repower, repaint, add some new electronics (SSB, fix radar. install new depth meter and chart plotter), add wind vane steering and anchor windlass, bring all lines back to the cockpit, add an A/C generator.

The boat already has air conditioning so I may as well use it until it breaks.

I bought all of this equipment (except the wind vane) a year before Amorin. I must have looked at 30 boats, some were very nice but they just weren't right. The first time I saw Amorin I knew that this boat would take me into my dreams. She was just like me. A little old and a little beat up, but after you walked on her deck you knew that there was no slacking in her hull. She was ready to sail any ocean any time. Maybe she was a little too confident, but I like that. I bought her on the spot.and have not been sorry.

I will also re do the cushions on settee. I'm single handing so the V berth is coming out in favor of sail and misc. storage.

My plan is to finish by the first of 2009 and leave for the Bahamas and the Panama Canal en route to the Pacific during the first quarter.

I've always wanted to run away to sea, now that I'm retired and still healthy I'm going to do it. If I fail that's ok cause it's the journey not the destination that counts.
